She was accepted into her first official art show, "Art Walk" and began her journey as an artist and photographer.
A few years later, Lea was living with her boyfriend (now husband) Ross and he secretly signed her up for an art show in Urbana, Ohio at a coffee shop called "The Depot". During her one month display at said coffee shop, Lea sold 4 different paintings. She then displayed at "Vue Columbus" and additionally sold 6 or so paintings while on display in 2015.
In July of 2016 Lea decided to pursue her artwork and photography full-time while supplementing her income with benefits and stability from working part-time creative jobs. "I have not been this happy in a long time," Lea proclaims. She also has been an Art Therapist for National Church Residences teaching four art classes a week in the community to both an elderly audience and an intergenerational class. Lea served as the Director of Art Outside the Lines, a community art studio that serves adult artists with developmental disabilities. In April 2019 she finally was forced out of the nest and pursued her Art career full time.
"In a formal sense I have adequate training including my bachelors degree in Communications along with Black and White Photography, Digital Photography, Ceramics, Print-Layout and Design (Adobe Creative Suite) and various Public Relations courses." said Lea. In addition, she also completed the Columbus State Community College courses in Photoshop and Digital Photography.
Lea has been a featured artist and photographer for various non-profits that she has worked for, in the Columbus Dispatch, and for private business entrepreneurs. While creating all of her current artwork, Lea was formerly in a 450sq. ft. tiny house in German Village for 2 years with her boyfriend and Jack Russell Terrier, Gigi, but since then they have upgraded to a historic home in the Eastgate Neighborhood and are married! They have rescued another dog, Ozzy the 90 lb. Catahoula whom is in LOVE with Gigi and Rico the chihuahua mix that's full of energy and joy.
So you wanna know how on Earth she got into dog portraits right? Well truth be told she painted her first dog, Gigi the amazing Jack Russell Terrier and after that the orders started coming in. "I truly can say that I owe it all to Gigi, she has changed my life for the better in more ways than one."
